Is there anything David Lynch can’t do? Earlier this year, the iconic American filmmaker, known for his weird and wonderful films like Blue Velvet and Eraserhead, released an album of original music, and (of all things) his own signature blend of coffee. This month, he presents a collection of multimedia art works for his first gallery exhibition since 1989, at Tilton Gallery in Manhattan. Unbeknownst to many, Lynch actually started his career as a painter, attending the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia. His show at Tilton, comprised of paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs, and a short film, is as surreal, whimsical, dark and twisted as any fan of Lynch’s work would hope it to be.
David Lynch at Tilton Gallery runs until April 14, 2012.
