Insider: MoCCA & trans/FORM
August 7th, 2012 7:00pm - August 7th, 2012 9:00pm
Join The Ministry for our third annual talk with Museum of Canadian Contemporary Art (MOCCA) Artistic Director and Curator, David Liss, who will explain his newest curatorial effort, an exhibition that continues a series looking at Toronto-based artists.
Featuring eight Toronto artists, the exhibition trans
/FORM at MOCCA examines artists whose approaches to producing artworks are revealed through the tactile and factual characteristics of the materials from which they are made. For these artists, material and matter is the subject of their work. trans
/FORM presents new perspectives on form, meaning and material that are basic to the very definition of art.
/FORM is the most recent installment of MOCCA's ongoing series of exhibitions, initiated in 2002, that showcase the histories and practices of the Toronto contemporary art scene. This exhibition will include work from Jaime Angelopoulos, Georgia Dickie, Aleksander Hardashnakov, Derrick Piens, Sasha Pierce, Jennifer Rose Sciarrino, Hugh Scott-Douglas, and Niall McClelland.
The mandate of the Museum of Canadian Contemporary Art is to exhibit, research, collect, and promote innovative art by Canadian and international artists whose works engage and address challenging issues and themes relevant to our times. MOCCA is committed to providing a forum for emerging artists that show particular promise and to established artists whose works are considered to be ground-breaking or influential.
